HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act) You will be provided a copy of our HIPPA privacy regulations at the time of your consultation. Consultations At Plastic, Laser, & Cosmetic Surgery, consultations are complimentary. You should schedule an hour to an hour and a half for your consultation appointment. Our receptionist will call to confirm your consultation a day or two before. If you are unable to keep your consultation, we ask that you please call to let us know as soon as possible.
Surgery scheduling Everything will be covered the day of your consultation to prepare you for surgery. After this, you may schedule your procedure at any time that is convenient for you. A deposit is not necessary to schedule surgery, or ‘keep a date’. Payment is required in full two weeks before your scheduled surgery. If you need to change your time or cancel surgery for any reason, we ask that you call at least 3 to 5 business days before your scheduled surgery.
Before surgery Do not eat or drink within eight hours of your arrival at the surgery center. You may take routine medications with a sip of water the morning of surgery. Smoking can pose additional risks to your surgery. These risks include delayed wound healing, decreased blood flow, increased risk of infection, and other notable problems. As a result, it is extremely important to cease all nicotine products as soon as possible before and also after your procedure. You will need to avoid aspirin, Ibuprofen, vitamin E, or any other blood thinners for at least 10 days before surgery. Herbal supplements and diet pills should be avoided for 2 weeks before surgery, and failure to do so may result in cancellation of your surgery.
Day of Surgery Please have a responsible adult available to drive you home and care for you the day and night of surgery. If you are from out of town you will need to make arrangements to stay over night.
Financial Policies As patients approach surgery, they frequently need information about the various payment options. We hope the following information will be helpful.

Payment Options Payment for cosmetic plastic surgery is due in full two weeks before your scheduled surgery. We provide a number of payment options, which may be used individually or combined according to your wishes. Our payment options are listed below.
- We accept cash, personal checks, cashiers checks, money orders, and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover).
- Multiple financing options are available through CareCredit Finance. They can be reached at 1-800- 365-8295.
With CareCredit you can get the cosmetic procedures you want, when you want them. You can pay over time with low minimum monthly payments, and pay no annual fees. CareCredit offers two types of payment plans: 3 month no interest if paid within 3 months or 48 month low interest. You may apply online at http://www.carecredit.com/cosmetic/procedure
Cancellation Policy We understand that a situation may arise that could force you to postpone your surgery. Please understand that such changes affect not only your surgeon, but other patients as well. Dr. Porterfield's time, as well as that of the operating room staff, is a precious commodity, and we request your courtesy and concern.
